Altea... the pearl of the mediterranean
Altea, recently chosen to be nr 1 in the top 10 of most beautiful villages of the Costa Blanca. Located between known towns like Calpe and Benidorm, Altea rises from the sea. The old village with it's cubbled streets and whitewashed houses and above it all a church with a beautiful mediteranean blue dome ...a photographer's dream !
The narrow streets in the old town are packed with restaurants and shops selling handycrafts, painters that sell their art and then at the highest point of the town emerges a lovely church with it's magnificent church plaza offering a view over the mediterranean overlooking Albir up to Benidorm.Sea, mountains, and white pebble beaches...a dream destination for your wedding abroad !
How to get there ?
The Costa Blanca has 3 major airports to choose from : Alicante, Valencia and Murcia.
Alicante is the closest to Altea, about 40 minutes drive, where as Murcia and Valencia are located at more then 1 hour and a half drive.
Alicante is therefore the best choice and easy to book transfers with airportshuttles leaving for Altea every hour.
Many cheap flights frequent Alicante every day, so finding cheap tickets is usually easy.

Of course every one knows Benidorm. You can even do your stack and hen party the night before the wedding. There are many bars to choose from and discotheques to go to ...
For the more cultural people amongst you, Guadalest is worth wile visiting. It's a medieval village high in the mountains overlooking the most beautiful smaragd lake. In the village you can visit the castle and even the town prison...
Or are you more the Tarazan and Jane type, then go and visit the Algar Waterfalls and stand under the ice cold water coming from the highest mountain tops of the Sierra de Bernia.
And what about shopping ?
Altea has many nice boutiques and shops selling all kinds of stuff like decoration, jewellery, shoes, vintage items etc...
In the old town you will find a lot of handycraft shops, artists making silver jewellery , pottery etc...From end of June to September there is a handicrafts market up at the church square every evening till late...Enjoy the spanish life !
